Step-by-step guide on how to pair the YIP Smart Tag with your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone.
1. On your Galaxy phone, make sure that Bluetooth and Location Services are turned on. You will find these in your Galaxy phone settings.
2. On your Galaxy phone, open the SmartThings application. In most cases, this will already be installed on your Galaxy phone. If it is not, you can download the SmartThings app through the Galaxy Store.
Note: If you are unable to download SmartThings from the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store, please check here to see if your phone is compatible.
3. Remove the battery pull tab, and then press down on battery to ensure it is seated correctly. You will immediately hear a tone and the LED light will begin flashing. This indicates that you are in pairing mode. The unit will stay in pairing mode for 10 minutes. If the light stops blinking, please remove the battery, wait 10 seconds and then insert the battery. This will place it back into pairing mode.
4. In the top right hand corner of the SmartThings app, tap on the plus sign (+). Then, tap on Device.
5. Before the next step, make sure the LED light is still blinking on the back of your tag. Then, under "Scan for nearby devices" tap on Scan.
6. Your phone will now scan for nearby devices. After a few seconds, "YIP Smart Tag" will appear on your screen. Now tap on the "Add" button.
7. On the next screen, select "Use of location information" and then tap on "Agree".
8. If prompted, press the pairing button on the back of your tag (see the red arrow below for the location of the pairing button).
9. To complete the pairing process, 1) name your tag, 2) select an icon to represent your tag on the map, and 3) turn on "Set as favorite".
10. Lastly, tap on "View Map". The first time you do this, the SmartThings Find plugin will be downloaded to your phone. Once this is complete you will be able to see your YIP Smart Tag on the map.
